Aquilino Soriano | L.Ac

Aquilino Soriano’s journey into acupuncture began with his certification in massage therapy. From there he went on to study Acupuncture at the Pacific College of Oriental Medicine (PCOM), and in 1995 earned his Master’s Degree and is board certified in both Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine. He specializes in Sports Medicine and Orthopedics, postural alignment, (certified in both Symmetry and Egoscue). He integrates both Traditional Chinese Medicine and Western orthopedics and sports medicine methods to holistically treat each individual patient. Aquilino also specializes in NAET, an allergy elimination technique which proves successful with both children and adults of all ages. In 2000 he founded Acusport Health Center, and has enjoyed serving the community of Ocean Beach. As a longtime musician, he incorporates vibrational healing in his sessions through the use of tuning forks, which can have positive effects on the physical and emotional state of the body and mind.


Yael Ben-Porat | DAOM, MPH, LAc

Yael’s initial interest in the diversity in approach to the human condition is evidenced by her early career choice to pursue a BA degree in Cultural Anthropology with an emphasis in the Anthropology of Medical Practice from UCSD. As Managing Editor of the Journal of Medicinal Food she has maintained her strong ties to traditional western science and medicine while forging to bridge the gap between what was once a great distance between Eastern and Western approaches to health and well-being. Certified as a licensed acupuncturist both by the California Acupuncture Board as well as nationally, she earned her Masters of Science Degree in Traditional Oriental Medicine from Pacific College of Oriental Medicine in San Diego. Yael employs a combination of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture, Herbology, Tui Na, Qi Gong and postural alignment exercises, as well as diet and lifestyle modifications as needed to help her patients restore and maintain their health and well being. She has served a two-year Internship with Vasa Mik in the application of Acupunture Techniques to specifically address issues involving Orthopedic and Sports Medicine applications. Yael’s other interests include internal medicine, drug and alcohol addiction, women’s health/infertility issues, mental health (neurology), endocrinology, gastrointestinal dysfunction and pain diseases, immune disorders and overall illness prevention.

Yael believes that is is never too late in life to turn your health around and begin living a stronger more satisfying existence.


Shannon Wheelwright | DACM, LAc

Dr. Shannon Wheelwright, L.Ac is a California Board Certified Acupuncturist offering integrative, patient-centered healthcare. She is a Pacific College of Health Sciences graduate with a Doctorate in Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine.

Shannon’s patients experience personalized treatments with a combination of Eastern and Western treatment modalities. She empowers them through education, giving them the tools to take control of their healthcare. Her multi-faceted approach helps her patients to achieve optimal health.

Shannon is inspired by the balance nature brings. When she’s not working with her patients, you can find her outside hiking, backpacking, reading a good book, or drinking coffee in her garden with her dogs, cats, and chickens. Her time in nature and with her animals help keep her grounded and full of joy so that she can be the best practitioner to her patients and community.


DR. EMILY MCGEE | L.Ac

Dr. Emily McGee, L.Ac is a licensed acupuncturist certified by the California Board as well as nationally. She received her BS in Health Sciences and minor in Nutrition from The Ohio State University. Emily graduated from Pacific College of Health and Science in San Diego with a Doctorate in Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine. She is also a certified yoga teacher. Emily’s ethos is to provide a safe and comprehensive environment where the body can initiate its intrinsic ability to heal itself. She believes that each of us are sovereign individuals with infinite regenerative potential.

Emily is passionate about orthopedics and pain management. She recognizes that pain and emotions are inextricably connected, and you cannot treat one without treating the other. Emily uses a culmination of her formal education in acupuncture, herbology, yoga, a combination of Eastern and Western modalities, as well as her own unique life experiences to provide a holistic approach to patient care. She believes that true health includes optimal physical health, mental health, spiritual health, and diet.

Emily also treats women’s health, psycho-emotional issues, and hormonal imbalances. Additionally, she provides cosmetic acupuncture services, as well as microneedling. Emily offers a genuinely human experience and an open space to heal. She is here to help you come home to your greatest expression of health, wholeness, and vitality.


Jordan Allen | M.S., L.Ac.

Jordan holds a Masters of Oriental Medicine degree in Chinese Medicine and is licensed to practice acupuncture in the state of California. He is board certified in both Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine, and assistant teacher of Treatment of Orthopedic Disorders, at Pacific College of Oriental Medicine. Jordan specializes in Sports Medicine and Orthopedics utilizing techniques such as postural therapy, orthopedic rehabilitation, tuī ná, facilitated stretching, and prescribes herbal formulas personally tailored for the individual. Passionate about his work and giving back, Jordan works with Global Alternative Healthcare Project (GAHP), an international aid group which provides health care to underserved areas in the U.S. and abroad.

KRYSTA KAUMP | Massage Therapist

Krysta is a licensed massage therapist with a background in physical therapy. She has worked with professional athletes, winter olympians, professional musicians, and dancers from some of the top dance schools such as the New York ballet company.

She has an advanced orthopedic certificate, along with certificates in oncology, cupping, prenatal and other massage modalities.

She is currently pursuing her doctorate in Acupuncture and Chinese medicine.

She has a therapeutic massage and specializes in recovery, injuries, mobility and pain relief.


Nick Katris | Massage Therapist

Nick Katris is a licensed massage therapist, board certified by the NCTMB. His journey began by spending time with Native American tribes and their healing ceremonies. This unique experience led him to the Utah College of Massage Therapy, Florida College of Natural Health and later to working with physicians, chiropractors, physical therapists and acupuncturists. Nick is currently pursuing his doctorate in Chinese Medicine.

With over 17 years of experience working in clinical and spa settings he has a solid understanding of the human body to alleviate problems and improve quality of life. By blending a meditative approach with specific modalities such as Neuromuscular, Reflexology, Cranial Sacral Therapy, Stretching, Sports or Swedish massage techniques, Nick is able to bring the whole person into a state of well-being. He is passionate about creating a safe and healing environment. Every massage is uniquely tailored to address the physical concerns not only to relax and relieve discomfort but also rebalance and recharge your energy.


TERESA Mojica | Massage Therapist

Teresa has been in the healthcare field for over 20 years, working previously as a medical assistant in oncology. Wanting a more hands on approach to healthcare, she enrolled in massage school in 2004 at Body Therapy Center in Palo Alto, California. She obtained over 500 hours of training in Swedish massage, deep tissue massage, and lymphatic drainage. Before moving to San Diego in 2018, she worked with a chiropractor for over 12 years and developed her skills as a clinical deep tissue therapist addressing chronic pain and repetitive work injuries.


Cathlyn Joy Fabunan-Alvarenga | LMT

Cathlyn Joy, also known as Joy, has been a licensed massage therapist for 17 years and works with people from all walks of life experiencing acute and chronic pain and mobility and structural issues. She has had the pleasure of working with chiropractors, acupuncturists, personal and Crossfit trainers, health coaches, yoga instructors and rehab centers. Joy has also worked with professional and collegiate athletes, supporting their recovery and performance.

With an accumulation of years of education in structural integration, deep tissue and sports massage, trigger point myotherapy, lymph drainage therapy, Upledger and Biodynamic CranioSacral Therapy, breathwork, naturopathy, Iridology and neuro-linguistic programming, Joy has a well-grounded understanding of bringing the body, mind and spirit together for one’s highest health.

She addresses each person’s structural alignment and posture, fascia restrictions, range of motion and lifestyle habits and applies an integrative bodywork that renews the body’s overall structural alignment.

She’s passionate about creating space for the body to innately find balance, harmony and strength again, as well as empowering others to create positive shifts and be the masters of their well-being.
