AcuSport Seminar Series LLC presents:

Excess (Shi) and Deficient (Xu) Pain Patterns in the
Upper Extremity: Nerve Entrapment Syndromes

Course Objectives:

The practitioner taking this course will learn meridian
topography and how it relates to the brachial plexus
and nerve pathways of the upper extremity.

Discussion of nerve entrapment sites at the spine and
from soft tissue indurations creates regions of Qi and
Blood stagnation (Qi Zhi Xue Yu) producing excess (shi)
and deficient (xu) pain and paresthesia patterns distal
from the entrapment site.

Common nerve entrapment syndromes will be reviewed
including cervical degeneration, thoracic outlet syndrome,
ulnar nerve entrapment at the elbow and wrist, supinator
and pronator teres syndromes as well as carpal tunnel
syndrome.

Specific injuries will be discussed in relation to common TCM patterns. Relevant orthopedic physical evaluations
and manual muscle tests will be demonstrated to assess
the integrity of the musculoskeletal system.

Innovative treatment protocols will be introduced
consisting of needle techniques to the involved motor and
acupuncture points to balance the somatic system according
to both TCM and western biomedical principles.

Syndrome specific stretches and rehabilitative exercises
will be demonstrated and practiced.

The experience of this workshop will refine your assessment
and treatment skills, expand your knowledge of
needle techniques and improve your success in treating
common entrapment problems found in clinical practice.
